THE MISSION OF PHGSC:
The Pleasant Hill Garden Study Club was started in 1948 for the purpose of developing an interest in home gardening and the subsequent beautification of the community

CLUB MEETINGS:
We begin at 7:00 pm with announcements and brief business items.
Next is a PARTICIPATORY DISCUSSION, often with questions and answers about members’ specific garden problems.
A short refreshment and SOCIALIZATION break follows.
You may buy RAFFLE tickets for garden-related prizes, with proceeds going to the Penny Pines fund for replanting of damaged national forests in California.
The PROGRAM WITH SPEAKER runs from 8:00 to 9:00 pm.
YOU ARE INVITED to attend any meeting to check us out. If you wish to visit us often, we ask you to please join.

PROGRAM TOPICS:
Speakers cover a wide range of interests:

> Drought tolerant and pollinator gardening;
> Soil and water issues, landscape design;
> Growing fruits, vegetables, herbs, and preserving them;
> Sustainable practices and pest management;
> Topics related to flowers, succulents, trees/shrubs, propagation; gardens from around the world, and more.

MEMBER BENEFITS:

The MONTHLY NEWSLETTER introduces the next speaker, reports on the last month's presentation, and covers all pertinent club information.
Your membership makes available DISCOUNTS when purchasing from various local vendors.
TRIPS and TOURS to area specialty gardens and nurseries are organized for members and their invited guests.
Members only are invited to attend the EARLY BIRD SALE the evening prior to our annual Plant Sale.

OTHER PERKS & ACTIVITIES:
An EXCHANGE TABLE at club meetings allows members to drop off and pick up assorted plants, bulbs, books, magazines and other small garden-related items.
Twice a year, members enjoy a POTLUCK DINNER prior to the regular meeting.
In December, club members contribute to a "HOLIDAY CHEER" project of providing houseplants to homebound hospice patients.
Preparing for and participating in the club's ANNUAL PLANT SALE in May is a primary way that members get to know each other better.
At POTTING PARTIES leading up to plant sales, members gather in small groups to plant seeds, create color bowls and design succulent arrangements.
